Over the past 2.5 years the state has paid for approximately 1,600 people to have the surgery which has cost them 30 million dollars. They say they can’t afford it anymore. Many feel however that not covering Weight Loss Surgery for employees will only cost the state more for workers suffering from diabetes, sleep apnea, and acid reflux.
